WHY AM I NOT GETTING FB NOTIFICATIONS FOR MY POSTMYPARTY POSTS GOING IN MY PARTY GROUP?

Normally, you would not get notified for posts going to a personal group, because Facebook sees your profile as doing the posting. If anyone comments on your posts, you should receive those notifications.

However, if you're posting as your Page in a Business Page Group, you would see that in your personal notifications.

WHY ARE MY GUESTS NOT GETTING NOTIFIED OF MY PARTY GROUP POSTS?

Facebook defaults to notify group members of only the “Highlights”, which are basically the most popular posts.

Each guest would have to make sure their Notifications Settings are set to “ALL POSTS” when they join the group. We suggest having instructions pre-posted so they can do this before the party starts.

TIP: Create a graphic like this to help guests get the most fun out of the party:

HOW CAN I GET NOTIFICATIONS OF POSTS BY MY BUSINESS PAGE?

And would other admins on the Page also see notifications for linked group posts scheduled through PostMyParty?

  • In the Pages section of the FB app, the page admins will be notified of all activity related to their posts in linked groups. This means if any post by the Page (prescheduled or otherwise) gets reactions or comments, it will show up there. Also, any new posts/activity by other members of the linked group will also show up.

  • The New Facebook Business Suite app only shows activity related to managing the actual Business page and linked Instagram profile/account. It does not show anything related to groups linked to the Page.

"In my linked group where my profile is also admin, I get "most" of the notifications through my personal profile. This is also subject to a variety of things, ie, if you post as your Page, but then comment manually as your personal then you'd be notified in both places. Also, FB notifications are notoriously screwy and frequently subject to change." - Corey

If I have a party linked to my Business Page, can people that are not members of the group (but follow the Page) see the posts?

  • It depends on the privacy setting of that group. If it is a public group, anyone would have the ability to see those posts, but not comment.

Likewise, anyone invited to the group but hasn't officially "joined", is in "Preview Mode". This means, they can view posts in the group, like, but not comment until they join.

If the group is set as private, then only joined members of the group can see the posts and participate.

WHY DO I GET NOTIFIED OF FB GROUP ACTIVITY ONLY SOMETIMES?

"This is mostly due to the fact that the FB app and FB desktop are 2 separate things...they don't automatically match each other. Changes (by FB) have to be made to one then to the other. SO....glitches between them happen all the time.

I was in a party and made a comment on a post from mobile, then realized it disappeared. Gone. Then got on my computer, and there was the comment..which still doesn't show up on mobile. Annoying for sure!!" - Corey

Top Tips to Get Facebook Group Notifications

  • People who choose to join the group are more likely to get the party post notifications. Instead of adding people to the group (forcing them to join), personally messaging friends to join the group themselves is the way to go. This shows Facebook they’re choosing to join.

Choose to send a simple message asking potential guests if you can send them more info. When they say, “sure!”, you can send them the group link and ask them to click on it to join and once they’re in, they will find the details in the welcome post to participate.

  • Make it easier to share a party group link by customizing it! This will make the link look legit (instead of jumbled with a bunch of numbers), and guests are more likely to click on it to check it out.

You can do this in the group settings under “Customize Group”. For example, the group link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1898185527073456 might be changed to have “PreferredCustomers” or “FlowerPartyGroup” instead of the numbers.

  • Create a post with the party details, shopping link, and group instructions for guests to follow. Have them Comment when they’ve followed the instructions, so they begin to get notifications right away.

This can look like a welcome post Pinned to the top as an announcement (recommended).
Or in the About section of the group (this is usually visible to the public, but is a good way to prompt people to actually join the group to participate).
Or with the cover photo description (if you create your own party images, make a cover photo that says “Click Here first” to prompt guests to open and read the instructions to join the group).

Include a graphic to show guests how to find the settings in the party group, like this:

  • If your Page is doing the posting, have guests "Like" your business page too. This can be used to earn more tickets in a giveaway at the end of the party and boost engagement, but it tells Facebook to show more posts from a business page people Like and are following.

  • Easily edit your own group notifications in the Facebook Mobile App: Go to the Groups section>Settings> Notifications: Here you can edit settings for multiple groups at a time, just go down the list. You can also go into individual groups to edit notification settings.

  • Page Admins can review notifications about posts by the Page in the Facebook Mobile App: Go to the Pages section and select your Page>Notifications: This shows comments or activity on any posts by the Page, including group posts.
