Livestream within your Virtual Pop-Up

How to go live within your virtual pop-up

Going live in your party is a great way to encourage excitement and engagement with your guests!

You can stream directly within the Virtual Pop-Up, without you or your guests being directed to another site.

Benefits of streaming directly within your Virtual Pop-Up:
  • Your guests will receive an alert that you are live, the moment you begin your stream.
  • Those participating live can comment along.
  • Comments can include images and GIFs, keeping them engaged with the community.
  • You can view and interact with the comments directly within your livestream, without having to monitor separate sites.
  • The livestream will be recorded and added to the Pop-Up, available for guests to view at any time.

You can watch the full video tutorial below or continue reading for written instructions.

1. Create your Live Post.

When you are ready to go live:

  • Navigate to your Virtual Pop-Up.
  • Click the Dropdown arrow beside Create New Post, and select Create Live Post.

2. Allow Microphone and Camera use.

Your browser will likely ask if you'd like to give your permission for your device's microphone and camera to be used. If a prompt like this shows, you'll want to allow that - otherwise you will not have any audio or visual when you go live.

How this permissions window looks depends on the browser you are using. The image shown below is an example from Google Chrome.

If you receive a Failed error, and/or you cannot unmute or turn on video, this means you had declined permission at some point in the past. Use the Inspect icon beside the link at the top of the page to give permission. Afterwards, refresh the page and you should be able to use your microphone and camera for the livestream.

3. Go live!

When you're ready, click the Go Live button.

Once you're streaming:

  • Your guests will receive a notification on their device.

  • Both you and your guests will be able to use the comment section.

On a computer, the comment section will be to the right of the video stream. On a mobile device, click either the Gear icon to show the comment feed on-screen, or the Chat icon to to open the comment feed and/or add a comment.

  • You can share your screen for your guests to see.

4. End Stream.

When you are finished livestreaming, click the End Stream button.

PostMyParty will process your video, after which the replay will be available to watch within your Virtual Pop-Up.
